Antarctica

We made it to Antarctica! After a little Drake Shake to get here, we were welcomed by penguins, humpback whales, and icy views everywhere. Celebrating hitting my 7th continent!

Landed! 7th continent for me, 6th for Charlotte and Hoppy

After two days crossing the Drake passage, we woke up, opened our drapes, and voila!

First stop, Petermann Island with our transportation in the background. This is an emergency survival hut maintained by Argentina

Hoppy fell into an icy rabbit hole, thankfully he had his base layers on - crisis averted

Scoping out landing sites

Antarctic waters are too cold for orcas to shed their skin efficiently and algae accumulates making their white spots yellow/off-white

Icebergs as tall as our 11 story ship

Leopard Seal

Crab eater seal, she was quite playful compared to others we’ve seen that just laid around

Adélie penguins sometimes have blue rings around their eyes

Yes, it’s been cold, but honestly not that bad! We came prepared with base layers, and more layers

Tiny gentoo penguins, mama penguin was still feeding them

Fur Seal

Humpback whale and swimming penguins, right off the balcony of our cabin.
