Thessaloniki, & Meteora's Monasteries, Greece

First stops in Greece; Thessaloniki, Meteora's Monasteries, Edessa Waterfalls, and Corfu Island 

Meteora monasteries. Twenty-four monasteries were established atop the giant natural pillars that dominate the local area, mainly from the second half of the 14th century. Six of these are still active.
The pillar on the left was featured in James Bond, “For Your Eyes Only”




Thessaloniki, founded in 315 BC by Cassander of Macedon, who named it after his wife Thessalonike, daughter of Philip II of Macedon and sister of Alexander the Great

Historic Ladadika district. Untouched by the major fire of 1917
