Exploring Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Takakkaw Falls
Moraine Lake. Private vehicles are no longer allowed access to the lake, shuttle services only. Locals like to tell visitors that the lake is drained every year and the bottom is painted turquoise
. These lakes are so bright blue because of rock flour, which are finally ground rock particles from glaciers suspended in the water. These particles scatter sunlight with the blue and green wavelengths being reflected back to our eyes.
