Expedition prep is serious business - Hoppy has layered up, reviewed the maps, and is very invested in the possibility of crossing the Antarctic Circle - marking his sixth continent
This trip goes through Buenos Aires a couple of times and continues on to Mendoza, Argentina, Uruguay, Antarctica, Ecuador
South America to Antarctica — we’ll start in Buenos Aires, then fly to Mendoza for a few days of Malbec tastings, ferry over to Uruguay, and then on to Antarctica!

There are two main rival fútbol teams in BA, Boca Juniors (CABJ) and River Plate. This entire area of the city is devoted to CABJ

Floralis Genérica is a massive steel flower that opens and closes with the sun. It was designed to open in the morning and close at night, symbolizing hope and renewal.
This is the former El Ateneo Teatro, opened in 1919, converted to a bookstore in 2000. The former stage is now a cafe.
Famous pizzeria in Centro BA (Charlestonians, think of this as the Hyman’s of BA), Pizza was good tho!
These “plush” benches, placed throughout BA, are actually made of concrete - don’t flop down too hard!
We did an “Argentine Experience” event consisting of making empanadas, chimichurri sauce, followed by eating 16 courses with wine pairings
We finished with dessert and learning out to make mate tea. It’s Argentina’s iconic herbal tea, it’s shared, and sipped slowly throughout the day
