A busy few days exploring sprawling Berlin, from grand historic buildings and local food to its alternative scenes and subcultures, there’s lots to see.
And then there was the Rave the Planet parade, with this year’s theme: “Imagine Love.” Techno music, movement, color, and thousands of people coming together to celebrate love, freedom, and being exactly who they are. Made for a fun afternoon of people-watching (and some dancing!)
Up next: a redeye flight to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Brandenberg Gate, a symbol of the city’s divided past and reunification
A touristy Bavarian (not Berliner) restaurant , but we wanted schnitzel
And ham!
A replica of the Checkpoint Charlie guard shack, and, McDonald’s…
Charlotte tried to get away, but I caught her.
The Reichstag, Germany’s equivalent to congress, built in 1894, it’s seen a lot!
The dome atop the Reichstag, added in 1999
Following pics are all from the Rave the Planet parade and dance party
Hoppy meeting friends
Parade route started at the Tiergarten which features the Berlin Victory Column, and ended at the Brandenburg Gate
